When you meet Jamie, you are instantly struck by his calm demeanour. However, once you begin to talk to Jamie, you realise very quickly, that you are speaking with a man who is completely passionate about the work he undertakes.  mono motorcycles were lucky enough to catch up with Jamie Gladman at his studio, to speak with him about where his interest began & his artistic passions.

When you walk in to Jamie’s studio, you first notice its exacting simplicity. However, the space is clear of clutter, painted white, all bar the over spray from previous work & Jamie has set himself up to ensure the very best work is produced for his client base.

Jamie has always had a passion for being creative. Even as a young child he loved building models, Airfix, building things & dabbling in woodwork. He would relish the opportunity to be able to paint these creations & bring the objects he had created to life.

Jamie studied GCSE Art at school, but did not pursue this into college. Instead he went out into the world of work.

Although Jamie Gladman had always continued to create & paint, it was only about 5-6 years ago that he really started to concentrate on completing commissions.

He first bought himself a small airbrush & embarked on a Youtube & trial an error format for learning the airbrushing ropes. He devoured hours of video from some of the top airbrush artists from around the world & practised his art, building & perfecting his skills.

Jamie’s first commissions were a portraits. It was only a chance encounter with an immaculate cream Mini & matching Mini trailer, that Jamie aspired to own one & paint one for himself.

Very shortly afterwards Jamie acquired his own Mini Classic 89 City E & set about the task of completely restoring her.  Jamie stripped the Mini right back to nuts & bolts & then, under a gazebo in his garden & with a sizeable compressor now part of hit ever growing kit,  he set about painting her.

While completing the Mini, Jamie set up his first Facebook page & started to share his artwork. Very soon, Jamie gathered a considerable following & the rest, as they say, is history.

Jamie has had his artwork featured in OK Magazine as part of a ‘Care after Combat’ event featured a Lambretta he had emblazoned with a Union Flag inspired design. Most recently, Jamie’s work has appeared as part of a considerable article in VW Bus Magazine. The article is written about ‘The Beast’, the T5 which features some phenomenal examples of Jamie’s work.

Jamie’s talents are outstanding & his natural ability to breathe life into any of the projects he is tasked with, is admirable. However, we must remember the value of these kind of talents & understand that if you want unique & one of a kind artwork, you respect the artists time & energy. One of Jamie’s most recent motorcycle projects, is the tank & panels from a mono motorcycles customers BSA. Once the tank & panels had been stripped, primed, filled, primed again, painted & sealed; Jamie will have been working on them for at least 30 hours.

When we asked Jamie where he would like to take his talents next, he told us that his next plan is to build a larger studio, with separate spray booth & storage area.
